Thoughts on Titus 1:15
Titus 1:15 NASB
To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
What exactly does this mean? Does it mean that if I am pure, then I can do whatever I want because everything is okay for me? I don’t think so.
I came across a Facebook post today that I believe gives us a good example of the practical application of this scripture. A man was in a theater lobby and happened to notice a rainbow in a display for a Disney movie. He was trying to warn people about the nefarious sneaky ways that Disney was trying to corrupt our children’s minds.
When you see a rainbow what do you think of? Gay pride? If you are pure, then I believe that the first thought would be about God and His promises. God put the rainbow in the sky as a sign of His promise to Noah and mankind that he would never destroy the earth again by using a flood.
If you study deeper in scripture, you learn about the seven Spirits of God. Each is represented by a color in the rainbow.
If you were a scientist, a rainbow would mean refraction of light through a prism or through water. That is why we see a rainbow after a thunderstorm when the sun peeks out and it is still raining in the distance.
The rainbow may be used by the LGBT movement, but they did not create it and it does not belong to them. The Bible tells us in John 10:1-3 (NASB) in the Parable of the Good Shepherd
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
I believe that the reason that the LGBT movement uses the rainbow is because they are trying to steal from God a sacred symbol of promise. Also, they are trying to get something that is forbidden, specifically a type of relationship with someone they have no business having that kind of relationship with. They are attempting to enter into a marriage covenant that is unholy. They are stealing affection. They are entering in another way. They are trying to apprehend promises without going through the door. Mostly though they are attempting to corrupt a symbol of God.
The solution then is to not allow our minds and consciences to be defiled. Remain pure. When you see a rainbow, think of God and His promises. Think of the beauty of the colors as they are refracted through water or a prism. When you see a rainbow flag praise God and thank Him for His promises. Take back the true meaning of the rainbow and refuse to allow it to be stolen from you.
All of His promises are yes and Amen!
Blessings dear ones!
