The Thing About Noah, Part 2

The post about Noah has invoked some interest. The following comments were made and since a response was requested I have added this post about the subject. My hope is to clarify my position as well as encourage further study and discussion. Enjoy!

1.

There is one point I would add. Many have noted that the Ark had room for others, but no others came of their own choice. In a like manner, salvation is open to all, but sadly all will not come.

Only those “in the family” will be saved. Since each of Noah’s sons was the father of different people groups, all of humanity has a possibility of “entering the ark” before judgment comes.

Thank you for writing.

I believe your sermon on Noah is biblically correct. I think I would study 2 Peter 2:5 where the inspired word of God refers to Noah as a herald or preacher of righteousness but this is not conclusive in my opinion. It is hard to believe that in the 120 or so years Noah was building the Ark that he did not preach to some of those who were lost in the flood. But it is true the Scripture does not say so directly. You might also consider that the Ark, and specifically the door on the Ark, are types of Christ see Genesis 6:16 and John 10:7. Anyone entering the Ark was saved from the flood and anyone accepting Christ is saved from their sin!

In Christ,

======================

Dear Brothers and Sister,

Thank you for your comments. I agree that what may be true speaks of the inclusive nature of Yahweh desiring all to be saved. It may very well be as I stated in my previous blog post that Noah preached to some. However, I was taught to let scripture interpret scripture. To understand this event one must understand other points as well.

  1. Yahweh made a prophecy in Genesis after Adam and Chavah (erroneously now known as Eve) ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Genesis 3:15

And I will make enemies Of you and the woman, And of your offspring and her Descendant; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”

This is the first Messianic Prophecy promising that a Messiah would come to destroy the works of the enemy and restore mankind’s position of dominion over the Earth and relationship with the Creator.

  1. Watcher angels came to Earth and corrupted themselves with human women.

Genesis 6:4

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of mankind, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Many are afraid to read or legitimize extra-Biblical texts, but I believe if Yeshua quoted from them then that makes them legitimate. Also, Jude quotes Enoch in Jude 1:14. Thus a thorough reading of the Book of Enoch will help to shed some light on this subject as well.

The Watcher angels who are under judgment for their transgressions corrupted the seed of mankind by engaging in sexual activities with human women. The enemy was attempting to cancel or otherwise prevent the prophecy given in Genesis by Yahweh from being fulfilled. The enemy created mixed blood through the union of angels and humans. This is a key to understanding the story of Noah and the Ark.

Yahweh saw that the whole Earth was corrupt except for Noah and his family. Noah was not just righteous, but also blameless in his time. Using the Strong’s Concordance we learn:

The KJV translates Strong’s H8549 in the following manner: without blemish (44x), perfect (18x), upright (8x), without spot (6x), uprightly (4x), whole (4x), sincerely (2x), complete (1x), full (1x), miscellaneous (3x).

Outline of Biblical Usage

complete, whole, entire, sound

complete, whole, entire

whole, sound, healthful

complete, entire (of time)

sound, wholesome, unimpaired, innocent, having integrity

what is complete or entirely in accord with truth and fact (neuter adj/subst)

From this, we come to understand that Noah and his family had complete, whole, unimpaired DNA. They were without blemish. Their DNA was not mixed with Nephilim DNA. Yahweh was preserving a family to ensure that the Messiah would come through a pure unimpaired human bloodline. It is a statement about the integrity and faithfulness of Yahweh.

Noah was 500 when he had his sons. When he was instructed to build the Ark, Yahweh said,

  1. Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; in Genesis 6:14
  2. I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall enter the ark—you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. Genesis 6:18
  3. Genesis 6 goes on to detail what else to bring on the Ark and Chapter 7 continues with this detail. No mention of inviting other humans.

Noah entered the Ark when he was 600 years old. It is most likely true that he preached righteousness most of his life. Again, preaching about righteousness is not the same as inviting people onto the Ark. I am not saying that connections cannot be made between the Ark and Yeshua. What I am trying to help others see is that 1. This story is about more than going to Heaven. 2. One cannot or rather should not read into scripture that which is not there to support one’s eschatological views or beliefs.

Absolutely, Yahweh is inclusive and Yeshua invites whosoever will come can come and enter the Kingdom through Him since He is the Door and no one comes to the Father except through Him. However, this truth does not equate to Noah inviting others to be saved by entering the Ark.

One last thing to help you continue your journey. We learn by studying the Law that Yahweh is greatly opposed to mixture. That is an entire study itself. Just a few things to consider as you continue your studies.

  1. The tree that Adam and Chavah ate from had a mixture of good and evil.
  2. The Nephilim were created by mixing angel DNA with human DNA.
  3. There are many laws given through Moses that forbade mixing seed, cloth types in one garment, and human DNA with animal DNA.

Once again, thank you so much for your comments and your desire to learn and grow in our Lord and Savior Yeshua. As always, I enjoy the discussion. Please feel free to send any more comments or questions you may have.

Shalom dear ones
