Is your Tradition Destroying You?

Dear ones…The truth is the truth whether or not you chose to believe it. The truth does not change based on anyone’s choice. There is no “my truth” and “your truth.” There is only God’s truth. In fact. God IS truth. Yeshua said, “I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

John 16:13 tells us: “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”

What you believe will guide your choices and your choices dictate your life.

Are you blessed? EVERYTHING going perfectly? Perfect health, finances strong, strong relationships, peace, and prosperity in EVERY AREA? Be honest, then read these scriptures…

Mark 7:8-13

Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”

He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘The one who speaks evil of father or mother, is certainly to be put to death’;  but you say, ‘If a person says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is, given to God),’  you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother;  thereby invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.”

John 14:15

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Health

Exodus 15:26

And He said, “If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and listen to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.”

Provision

Deuteronomy 11:13-17

“And it shall come about, if you listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today, to love the Lord your God and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul, that He will provide rain for your land in its season, the early and late rain, so that you may gather your grain, your new wine, and your oil. He will also provide grass in your field for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied. Beware that your hearts are not easily deceived, and that you do not turn away and serve other gods, and worship them. Otherwise, the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and He will shut up the sky so that there will be no rain, and the ground will not yield its produce; then you will quickly perish from the good land which the Lord is giving you.

It is your choice.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28

“See, I am placing before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today; and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following other gods which you have not known.

Do not imitate what the Lord hates.

Deuteronomy 18:9-14

“When you enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, a soothsayer, one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who consults the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord; and because of these detestable things the Lord your God is going to drive them out before you. You are to be blameless before the Lord your God. For these nations, which you are going to dispossess, listen to soothsayers and diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so.

Jeremiah was a Prophet.

Prophets speak what the Lord tells them to say. Often they do not understand everything they are speaking. Many times, the prophecies or words are for the present as well as the future. The words that the Lord uses are for a reason.

Consider this verse:

Jeremiah 10:4

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

It is true that Jeremiah was referencing idols. However, why were the following words used that give us the picture of a Christmas tree?

Deck it – a word meaning to beautify

Silver – the color of many ornaments

Gold – also the color of many ornaments

What about this phrase? Isn’t this exactly what is done to a fir tree that is being used to celebrate Christmas?

; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not

The message says it like this:

They trim it with tinsel and balls, use hammer and nails to keep it upright.

The NIV says” They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter.

Granted, most people don’t “worship” a Christmas tree, at least not knowingly.

But consider this…

God tells a person to stop celebrating Christmas with a tree. It is a pagan ritual, and He hates Christmas trees.

They obey and stop buying and decorating Christmas trees.

A lady in their church puts a balloon tree in the sanctuary.

That person talks to the Lord and reminds Him what they thought they heard Him say about Christmas trees. They ask for confirmation that they heard correctly. They ask the Lord to remove the tree from the church if they indeed heard correctly that God hates Christmas trees. Immediately, the balloons begin to lose air. The lady who put it up is unable to keep the balloons filled with air, so she removes it from the church 2 days later.

Now, the scripture only serves to confirm what they heard from God and what He did to prove that the person heard correctly. God hates Christmas trees.

You can choose to not believe, but the truth is the truth whether or not you believe it. So, are you going to continue to do what the Lord hates because it is a tradition?

Deuteronomy 12:31

You shall not behave this way toward the Lord your God, because every abominable act which the Lord hates, they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire for their gods.

Matthew 5:48

Therefore you shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The word “perfect” in this verse can also mean “wanting nothing necessary to completeness”.

So, I ask again, Is EVERYTHING perfect in your life? If not, maybe consider where you are disobeying the Lord’s commandments or doing what God hates. This can be an open door for the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy in your life. Are your traditions worth what you are losing? And trust me, even if you are blessed or believe you are blessed, if you are not perfect in health, finances, relationships, etc. then it is time to examine your life and close some doors.

Pray this:

Yeshua, please forgive me for allowing open doors in my life by putting my traditions above your Word and desires. Help me to desire what you desire. Help me to hate what you hate and love what you love. Help me to remove those things from my life that you hate and close any open doors I have that gives the enemy legal access to me and my family to steal, kill, and destroy. Help me to know and walk in your ways and show my love for you through obedience to your commandments. Thank you for being faithful and my very present help in my time of need. I need your help in this matter. Help me to be courageous and willing. I ask this in your name, Yeshua. Amen

Selah
